Cartier Santos Carrée Burgundy Red 'Swiss' Only GM Automatic Ref. 2960 From 1980s

An exceptionally rare and charismatic Cartier Santos Carrée Ref. 2960 from the 1980s, featuring the highly sought-after original burgundy red “Swiss”-only dial. Combined with its early MK1 bracelet and automatic movement, this is a particularly compelling configuration of the vintage Santos Carrée.

The stainless steel GM case measures 29 × 41 mm and retains the strong architectural proportions that define the Carrée. It is fitted with the desirable MK1 steel bracelet, measuring more than 18 cm in length and giving the watch excellent presence on the wrist.

The defining feature is undoubtedly its original burgundy red dial, signed simply “Swiss” at 6 o’clock. The dial shows normal signs of natural aging and wear, preserving its authentic vintage character. Its rich burgundy tone — a color so closely associated with Cartier — gives this Santos a striking and unmistakable appearance.

The dial is complemented by steel hands and a spotless sapphire crystal. Cartier recently fitted a new red cabochon crown, an intervention costing €127 and documented by the accompanying Cartier paperwork and invoice.

Inside beats the Cartier Calibre 077 automatic movement, freshly serviced and running excellent.
