Rolex Precision Ref. 9205 – 18K Rosé Gold with Faceted Diamond Index Dial (Circa 1956)
The Rolex Precision line represents a refined and understated chapter in Rolex history—focused on elegance, balance, and mechanical purity. This rare reference 9205, crafted in 18K rosé gold, stands out as an uncommon and highly impressive example, distinguished by its unique faceted index dial and impressive jumbo case size.
Presented here in excellent, unpolished condition, this watch offers a rare opportunity to acquire a truly distinctive 1950s Rolex.
Jumbo 1950s Case in Rosé Gold
The watch features a beautifully preserved 18K rosé gold case, measuring an impressive 35.2mm—remarkably large for the mid-1950s and easily considered a jumbo size for the period.
The case remains in outstanding condition, showing no signs of polishing, with strong lines and original geometry intact. Notably, the case back still displays the Rolex coronet and serial engravings, which are often lost over time—here remaining visible and well preserved, a rare and desirable detail.
Based on the case serial 184000, production dates to approximately 1956.
Rare and Striking Original Dial
The watch is fitted with an original Rolex dial, featuring a highly unusual and attractive configuration.
It showcases faceted rosé gold index markers, giving the dial a subtle play of light and added depth, alongside an applied Rolex logo. The dial remains in very अच्छी condition, with only minor, honest signs of aging, preserving its originality and character.
To our knowledge, very little information exists on this exact configuration, and no comparable examples with this dial have been identified—making this piece particularly intriguing for collectors.
The dial is complemented by rosé gold dauphine hands, beautifully preserved and in excellent condition, completing the harmonious monochromatic aesthetic.
Movement – Rolex Calibre 1210
Inside beats the Rolex Calibre 1210, a reliable and well-finished manual-wind movement typical of Rolex’s dress watches of the era.
The movement has been freshly serviced and is running excellently, keeping time very well and offering dependable daily performance.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a handmade leather strap, crafted in Belgium, providing a refined and understated complement to the warm tones of the rosé gold case.
