Omega Speedmaster Professional Pre-Moon – Ref. 105.012-66 – DON Bezel – Caliber 321 – Iconic 1966 Moonwatch Heritage

We are proud to present this outstanding example of horological history—the Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref. 105.012-66, featuring the revered Caliber 321 and original "Dot Over Ninety" (DON) bezel. As the reference worn by astronauts during NASA’s Apollo missions, this Pre-Moon Speedmaster is one of the most historically significant chronographs ever produced.

A True Collector’s Omega – Pre-Moon, Pre-Legend

This reference 105.012-66 is a cornerstone of the Speedmaster lineage. Produced in 1966, it features the larger 42mm asymmetrical case, twisted lyre lugs, and the original “Professional” dial layout introduced for astronauts. It is powered by the legendary manually wound Caliber 321, the same column-wheel chronograph movement used in the Moon-landing Speedmasters.

This is the exact reference worn on the wrists of astronauts such as Buzz Aldrin during Apollo 11. Its design and components are iconic—the stepped matte black dial, warm aged tritium lume, and the elusive DON bezel all reflect the golden age of Omega tool-watch craftsmanship.

Condition & Features

Dial: Original matte stepped dial in deep black, untouched with rich, creamy tritium hour markers and matching hands. “T SWISS MADE T” at 6 o’clock confirming tritium usage. This is a textbook example of Omega's 1960s professional chronograph dials.

Case: 42mm stainless steel asymmetric “lyre” lug case, correct for this reference. This example is particularly rare as it was manufactured by La Centrale Boîtes (CB), one of Omega’s contracted case makers alongside Huguenin Frères. Cases produced by CB are estimated to make up two-thirds of all 105.012-66 production, and are identifiable by their flatter lug profile and more subtle transition step on the lug bevel—making them highly sought-after among collectors.

Bezel: Rare original "Dot Over Ninety" (DON) tachymeter bezel in excellent vintage condition—highly sought after by collectors for its pre-moon configuration and historical accuracy.

Crystal: Omega signed hesalite plexiglass with embedded Omega logo.

Movement: Omega Caliber 321 manual-wind chronograph, just serviced by a master watchmaker. A movement celebrated for its complexity, precision, and history—column wheel controlled and rhodium-plated. Running smoothly and offered with a 12-month mechanical warranty.

Crown: Correct original Omega crown.

Strap: Hand-crafted premium leather strap made in Belgium, custom-fitted and true to the Speedmaster’s rugged elegance.

Buckle: Omega stainless steel buckle, period correct.

Reference: 105.012-66
Serial Number: In correct range for 1966 case production
