A rare and exceptionally attractive Movado Calendograf Ref. 14816 from the 1940s, featuring one of the most desirable configurations ever produced: an original black gilt two-tone dial with thick applied radium Arabic numerals. Beautifully preserved and incredibly difficult to find, this is a watch that rarely appears on the market.

Introduced in 1938, the Calendograf was one of Movado's most important wristwatches and among the world's earliest serially produced triple calendar watches. Powered by the celebrated Movado Calibre 470 SC, this example features the desirable centre seconds configuration, making it considerably rarer than the more commonly encountered subsidiary seconds models.

The original factory dial is the true highlight. Its deep black gilt finish contrasts beautifully with the silver outer minute track and bold raised radium Arabic numerals, creating outstanding depth and legibility. Black dial Calendografs are exceptionally scarce, and we have been unable to find another identical example currently available.

The 32 mm stainless steel case remains remarkably sharp, retaining crisp facets on the lugs and outstanding overall definition—exactly what collectors hope to see on a watch of this age.

Adding to the model's fascinating history, the Calendograf was exhibited at the 1940 New York World's Fair and later became one of the vintage Movado models collected by Andy Warhol, whose personal Calendograf was sold by Sotheby's following his estate sale.

Freshly presented on a handmade black leather strap crafted in Belgium, this watch is a remarkable example of one of Movado's finest creations.
