Jaeger-LeCoultre Vogue “Lapis” Tank Ref. 9014 – 18K Yellow Gold, Circa 1970s – Rare Large Size with Painted Lapis Dial

We are pleased to present this highly unusual and collectible Jaeger-LeCoultre Vogue, Ref. 9014, dating from the 1970s—a bold, architectural Tank-inspired design executed in solid gold and produced in extremely limited numbers.

The Vogue model was offered in just two dial variants: a classic champagne dial and the far rarer blue “lapis-style” painted dial, as seen here. While often mistaken for a stone dial, this example features an original painted lapis-effect dial, carefully executed to evoke the depth and starry appearance of natural lapis lazuli. This detail adds an important layer of nuance and rarity, particularly for informed collectors.

Even more significant is the fact that this watch is the large-size version, which is exceptionally difficult to find. Combined with a production of only around 150 pieces in that year, this reference stands among the rarest and most distinctive vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre dress watches of the era.

Design & Aesthetic

The watch features a striking 18K solid yellow gold square case, defined by sharp, straight lines and a strong 1970s design language. The case is finished with a beautiful textured surface, adding depth and visual interest while reinforcing its bold, masculine character.

The deep blue painted dial, inspired by lapis lazuli, recalls a starry night sky. It is paired with a contrasting gold central disk with printed Roman numerals, offering excellent readability while maintaining a highly decorative, almost graphic presence. The result is a dial that feels artistic yet precise—distinctive without sacrificing functionality.
