Description
A captivating Jaeger-LeCoultre Étrier Ref. 1670 from the 1970s, crafted in solid 18k yellow gold. With its distinctive stirrup-shaped design and delicate proportions, this rare creation beautifully captures the elegance and creativity of mid-century watchmaking.
The petite 15 × 20 mm case features the unusual stirrup-shaped lugs that inspired its name, Étrier, the French word for stirrup. Sometimes referred to by collectors as the Lucchetto for its padlock-like silhouette, this design became a fashionable expression of 1960s and 1970s elegance. The model was also associated with Hermès boutiques, reflecting the shared equestrian inspiration of both houses.
The solid gold case remains beautifully preserved, with crisp and clearly visible hallmarks. Its original, unrestored silver dial retains its authentic vintage character and is complemented by the original Jaeger-LeCoultre crown and a spotless mineral crystal.
Inside beats the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 840 manual-wind movement, freshly serviced and running excellent.
The watch is finished with a handmade Belgian brown leather strap, perfectly complementing the warmth of its yellow gold case.
